fans will be tuning in to ESPN with hopes of finding their beloved quarterback and former LSU Tiger, JaMarcus Russell getting the attention he deserves. JaMarcus Russell has been in the national spotlight since he announced he would forgo his senior year at LSU and eligible for the Draft. He is presumed to be the 1 NFL Draft Pick in 2007 and became the favorite after the LSU win in the Sugar Bowl, passing up former No. 1 favorite Brady Quinn. Russell decided to skip his Senior year of college and enter the NFL draft early. He has been one of the top quarterbacks in LSU history and led the team to a Sugar Bowl victory against Notre Dame in the 2006/07 season with a final score of 41 14. If he is selected as the No. 1 choice, he will become the 5th LSU Tiger chosen as No. 1 and join the likes of Billy Cannon (1960), Ben McDonald (1989), Shaquille O'Neal (1992), and most recently ladies basketball sensation, Seimone Augustus, who was the No. 1 Draft pick of the Minnesota Lynx in 2006.

JaMarcus Russell is currently featured on the cover of both ESPN The Magazine and Sporting News with feature stories concerning the Draft.

Russell was also featured on the national news during Hurricane Katrina coverage. He opened his apartment to over a dozen friends and family members, including legendary Fats Domino, who were affected by the storm.
